Air Attack Leaves 7 School Children Dead
A Sudanese air strike targeted a school in the village of Shegeg Karo
Seven Children Killed
The campaign group Darfur Diaries brings the tragic news that an air raid on the village of Shageg Karo has badly damaged a school and destroyed most of the village's market place.
The attack by an Antanov class aircraft, under control of the Sudanese military, left seven children dead within the school and killed a further 5-6 people in the market place.
This brutal act is made all the more tragic in light of the funds which were raised specifically to help the village and to build the school facility.
Appeal
An appeal has been launched by the charity to raise funds to help the people harmed by the attack and to repair the village. You can find details of the appeal and a statement by the charity on their website.
